The Best Part Doesn’t Wash Off!

Mud Hero is an Obstacle Course Race (OCR) that is family friendly and chip timed for those looking to push themselves. They offer a 6K course and a 10K course. For the past 4 years I have done the 6K course but this year I challenged myself to do the 10K course with more obstacles and plenty of extra elevation change. They also have a 1/2K course for the kids and the kids are allowed to go around as many times as they like.

The course map is pictured above. The race starts at the top of the ski hill and winds down a steep decline to the base of the canyon. I will not go through all of the obstacles one by one, instead, you can check out their website to see pictures of all of them; http://www.mudhero.com. The 10K course had a rope climb to ring a bell and I surprised myself by completing it. I have not climbed a rope since I was in junior high! There was plenty of mud, of course, and as always the world’s largest mud pit leading up to the finish line.

We always have fun here and the atmosphere is great. DJ’s play music, there are beer gardens and vendors, and there are volunteers at all of the obstacles to make sure that everyone is safe and enjoying themselves. Whatever your skill level, the whole family is sure to have a fun day.

Being that this was our 5th consecutive year doing this event, I decided to make some room on the medal racks by creating a shadow box with all of mine and my wife’s bibs and medals for the five years.
